How important is the page title?

The page title is one of the most important features of a Web page. Many search engines will include the page title in their summary of ranked pages for a particular search.

It is the task of Web designers to optimize each Web design for high Search Engine ranking. You should ensure that the main keyword or phrase for the page should appear in the page title if you are trying to achieve high ranking on the search engines.

The HTML for the page title of this page is:-

<title>Page Title</title>

and for my META keyword page it is

<title>META keywords</title>

The page title must be placed in the page header.

A balance is required between search engine optimization and visitor satisfaction. You should consider making every one of your pages relevant to at least one other page on your Web site. If possible try to include the keyword of this linked page in the page title. This will enhance the relevance of the current page to the linked page.
