How do I introduce my email address on my Web pages?

It is certainly advisable to provide your visitors with contact information, and a link to your email is an obvious choice.

You need to enter a small 'mailto' HTML coding. This is simply a hyperlink to your email. The exact method depends on your Web authoring program. As an example, in Frontpage:-

  1. Have the Web page open in Page view.
  2. Select the text or graphic that will provide the link to your email.
  3. Right click and select Hyperlink (or cntrl-K).
  4. Click on the E-mail button.
  5. The Create E-mail hyperlink button will appear.
  6. Type in your e-mail address and click OK.
  7. Click OK to close the dialog box.

Build and Grow Your Email List

What do 85% of e-marketers think is the most important element in the success of an email campaign? The list.

Studies show that a permission-based email list brings better results than a purchased list. Surprisingly, few marketers have one. A quality email list built from scratch takes patience but it is feasible.

If you can convert a single visit into a lasting relationship, your chances of gaining or retaining a customer are much greater. Email is by far the most cost-effective way to manage a relationship, so focus on turning both online and offline visitors into people with whom you can establish an ongoing email.

Here's how to build list quantity without sacrificing quality.

You can promote your offer in every corner of the world; but there are a few more things you should do to ensure your email list contains well-targeted, permission-based, low bounce/low unsubscribe names.

Offer people an incentive to join your opt-in list.

  • Only use an opt-in or double opt-in subscription method - not opt-out. Double opt-in ensures highest quality, since you are guaranteed direct permission from the subscriber and a valid email address. Double opt-in means that when clients complete the opt-in form, an email is sent to them and they have to confirm their request before their details are added to your database.
  • Offer people relevance and value in exchange for their contact information, e.g., special discounts, monthly tips etc.
  • Qualify without scaring away the really interested people. Ask for more than just name and email - but not too much. Find the right balance, and the people who truly value your offer and want to hear from you will be the ones who end up on your list.
  • Set expectations up front. Tell people what they'll be getting, and only the interested ones will sign up.

The key to successfully building a high quality, permission-based email list is to realize it's a continual process. Don't expect 100,000 names to appear in your list in a day. But the sooner you start, the sooner you can start building rewarding relationships.
